The "PROMOTION OF YOUTH EXCHANGES AND OTHER PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE CONTACTS" grant scheme will offer to the Turkish Cypriot community the possibility to interact with counterparts in the European Union through the taking part to a very broadly defined range of activities. The aim of such activities, taking place in the other EU Member States , shall be to offer the experience of interacting with EU organisations, improving the understanding of European values, experiences and multi-cultural traditions. Among others, those activities will include attending events such as festivals, fairs or conferences, sporting events, summer university sessions or youth camps, organising exchanges with other European counterparts, setting up study visits, internships or training sessions.

Targeting Turkish Cypriot Civil Society at the widest, the grant scheme is being proposed to three “types of applicants”, each one of them addressing specifically a section of the Turkish Cypriot Civil Society.
The European Commission has also contracted an external consultant, who will provide support to the potental applicants for the preparation of their applications. This "coach" can be contacted directly by email: .hakan@dogrudantemaslar.eu

The deadline for submitting the applications is 2 April 2009

The application dossiers have to be submitted in english.

This website has been prepared to provide additional support to applicants. This website is not the official website of the European Commission, which can be reached at :  http://ec.europa.eu/europeaid/cgi/frame12.pl

Targeting Turkish Cypriot Civil Society at the widest, the grant scheme is being proposed to two “types of applicants”, each one of them addressing specifically a section of the Turkish Cypriot Civil Society.

A. Individuals and informal groups’ people–to-people contact activities (hereafter referred to as Type of applicant A)

Under Type of applicant A, applicants are Turkish Cypriot individuals or informal groups. Though priority will be given to group activities rather than to individual exchanges and will preferably target beneficiaries between 18 and 30 years old.

Example of a possible action: Individual or informal group participation in workshops, seminars, conferences, congresses in other European Member States (please see other examples pages 8 & 9).

B. Civil society organisations’ people-to-people contact activities (hereafter referred to as Type of applicant B)

Under Type of applicant B, applicants are Turkish Cypriot Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) or groups of CSOs here designated as platforms. These platforms may be registered or informal.

Examples of a possible action: Sending one (or more) members of an association to attend a conference in another EU Member State; meeting with other European CSOs to exchange experience and approaches. (please see other examples page 14).

Though priority will be given to participants between 12 and 30 years olds as well as areas where the isolation and lack of awareness of the EU context is the greatest, the grant scheme is open to all as beneficiaries are concerned.
